Mark your calendars for our January Meeting
Saturday, January 24, 2026 • 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM • Wooster, OH
Ohio State University Wooster Campus • Shisler Conference Center

Our January meeting will be held in conjunction with the Ohio Cattlemen's Association Annual Meeting (Buckeye Cattlemen's Summit) and the Ohio Simmental Association Annual meeting. Make plans to attend, registration for the event ends January 15, 2026. Every OJSA member meal will be FREE, paid for by the Ohio Simmental Association. 

*Registration can be made for the OSA Annual Meeting luncheon or the full day of events
for the Buckeye Cattlemen's Summit. 

OJSA Fundraising

OJSA Gun Raffle Fundraiser

The OJSA Gun Raffle Fundraiser is officially underway! Every paid member family will receive 10 tickets, which will be mailed out the week of December 7th. Each ticket is individually numbered, and a record will be kept of the ticket numbers distributed to each member family. All unsold tickets must be returned, together with proceeds from sold tickets, no later than Saturday, March 21st.

Our goal is to sell 1,000 tickets! The top tickets sales will be recognized at the Memorial Day Classic.

OJSA Frozen Genetics & More Online Sale

Excitement is building for this year’s OJSA Frozen Genetics & More Online Sale! Final details, including bidding platform and date, will be announced early in the new year, with the sale timed around the Ohio Beef Expo. We’re aiming for 25 quality lots and are currently accepting semen, embryos, and other easy-to-ship items through our website.

For the best promotional opportunity, please submit donations by March 1st, and reach out to an OJSA advisor with any questions.

AJSA Scholarships

American Simmental-Simbrah Foundation Merit Award Scholarships

Together, the American Simmental Association and the American Simmental/Simbrah Foundation support this Merit Award Scholarship Program each year. Only one award can be achieved per year per applicant. The Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award Certificates are presented to the winners at the National Classic each year. However, the Silver & Gold scholarship money is not awarded until the recipient has registered and paid tuition to attend a postsecondary institution. At that time, the recipient must send proof of enrollment to the Chief Financial Officer at ASA, Linda Kesler ( lkesler@simmgene.com ). A check will then be forwarded to the recipient.

Bronze Merit Award Scholarships
ANY AGED JUNIOR MEMBER, Due by June 1st

• For ASA junior members
• Recognizes achievement in Association-sponsored Simmental/Simbrah activities
• Application and two (2) letters of recommendation required
• Selected by the American Simmental Association with assistance from State Associations. Applicants with no active State Association can submit their materials directly to ajsa@simmgene.com
• Certificates will be presented at the National Classic each year.
• Unlimited number of awards/state/year. One-time award per individual.
• Completed application and two recommendation letters must be submitted by the applicant's state to ajsa@simmgene.com NO LATER THAN JUNE 1.

Silver Merit Award Scholarship - $2,500
Must receive the Bronze Merit Award prior to applying, Due by June 1st

• For ASA junior members who are at least 16 years of age by January 1 of the year of application
• Recognizes achievement in Association-sponsored Simmental/Simbrah activities
• Application and two (2) letters of recommendation required
• Must have participated in at least 2 Regional or National Events (Regional and National Classics, IGS Summit, and SPC).
• Selected from among previous Bronze Award winners by an ASA-appointed committee.
• Presented at National Classic
• Maximum of 12 awards per year
• One-time award per individual Completed application, recommendation letters and recent photo (head and shoulders) must be submitted to ajsa@simmgene.com NO LATER THAN JUNE 1.

Gold Merit Award Scholarship - $5,000
Must receive the Bronze Merit and Silver Merit Awards prior to applying, Due by June 1st

• For ASA junior members who are at least 16 years of age by January 1 of the year of application
• Recognizes achievement in Association-sponsored Simmental/Simbrah activities
• Application and 3 letters of recommendation required (including one from a State Senior Association Officer or if no State Association a letter from a Senior State member).
• Must have participated in at least 3 Regional or National Events (Regional and National Classics, IGS Summit, and SCP).
• Selected from among previous Silver Award winners by an appointed ASA committee.
• Presented at National Classic
• Maximum of five awards per year
• One-time award per individual Completed application, recommendation letters, and recent photo (head and shoulders) must be submitted to ajsa@simmgene.com NO LATER THAN JUNE 1.
